<form>, function() & .class Web Design Conference 2009

Last Friday night, July 10, 2009, I was at the Asian Institute of Management at Makati City to attend an event dubbed as: Form, Function & Class: The First Philippine Web Design Conference. It was really a tiring day. I came home late, it was raining and I saw a lot of people getting stucked in the rain especially along the UST area (things haven’t yet change, hahaha! USTe guys, i’ve been there before!).

I can say that overall, it was a success! Lots of people attended, lots of tips from professional & well known Web Designers and prizes at the end of each speaker’s talk. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make friends with other designers because I was too shy, and I mean too shy. But it’s OK, I had fun in my own way. Below is the wrap-up of the event:

  1. Nap Allan Lara – Javascript 101: DOM, Events, and Objects
  2. Rico Sta. Cruz – Breaking your Instincts: Common bad habits and how to fight them (Download the slides here. View the slides here.)
  3. Regnard Raquedan – Web Standards, Accessibility & Usability: Experience is the Key
  4. Jojo Esposa – Disabled Friendly Awards
  5. Prof. Ricardo A. Lim, Assoc. Dean, W. SyCip Graduate School of Business – Introduction to AIM
  6. Aileen Apolo of Google – Search-friendly Web Pages
  7. Marco Palinar – Death to Webdesign
  8. Gail dela Cruz-Villanueva – Business of Web Design (originally, Industry Tips for the Web Professionals)
  9. Luis Buenaventura II – Strawberries, smileys and sheep

At the end of each talk there were raffle for the attendees. I was hoping that I could win those 3-year hosting package (really!) not knowingly, He’s saving the best for me.

I’ve been saying this over and over again. Thank you so much for the wonderful, informative event. I’ll be expecting more from you guys. Until the next event. Congratulations!

If you attended the event, your feedback would be really appreciated. Just finish this survey they’ve setup. Also, for more information, pay a visit at their official website.

For those who missed the event, their presentation slides will be available as for now only Rico Sta. Cruz has his presentation available for download. The rest will follow for sure. Enjoy!
